The cause of this might be that the power supply is not providing enough power for both the controller and slave.

When connecting to the unit using RS232 communications the baud rate on the terminal and the software might not be the same. If using RS-485 communication, it might also be that two communication wires are swapped around or the two wires are touching each other.
1. The fingerprint sensor is dirty or scratched. If it is dirty you can use adhesive tape to remove it.
2. The wire to the fingerprint sensor is loose.
3. The chip responsible for the fingerprint sensor is faulty.
Contact your supplier if no 2 or 3 is suspected.
This can be as a result of the communication cable, converter or COM port on the computer is faulty. This can affect the baud rate on the communications. Set the baud rates to 9600 or 19200 then try again
The speaker or voice chip is faulty.

Your current version of ZKAccess 3.5 is outdated.
Back-up your database and install the latest version of the software.
The options will be greyed out if you added a device that doesn't support the features, for instance, if you want to add an anti-passback and the device added is a standalone device (e.g. F18) then the anti-passback will be greyed out because you can't setup anti-passback on a standalone device unless you have a slave reader connected to it.

The Error is caused by an active antipassback, If the antipassback is set the user must first exit on the door where the anti-passback was activated before they can check in again.

Step 1: Click on the "Device" tab at the top of the interface.
Step 2: Select the device that you need to modify the IP address on.
Step 3: After selecting the devices then click on the "More" tab located on the far right-hand side of the interface.

Step 1: Access the 'Comm Menu' on the device, Go to ADMS and add the Server Address which is the IP Address of your PC, and Add the Server Port which is the BioSecurity Port Number.
Step 2: Change the IP Address of the device to be in the same IP Range as your PC.
Step 3: Add a gateway and the DNS should be the same as the Gateway.
Step 4: Restart the device

Step 3: Click Online Activation, and fill in the authentication information, which includes the super admin’s username and password.
Step 4: Fill in the registration information, click Browse to select the fileXX_SN.xml, which is received then click the Active button and the software will be activated.
Step 1: On the Login page, click About.
Step 2: Entering the About page, click Download UPK, then fill in the authentication information, which includes the super admin’s username and password.
Step 3: Fill in the registration information, click Browse to select the fileXX_SN.xml, which is received, and click Generate.
Step 4: You will get an XX_UPK.xml file. Then access the following website to obtain the XX_License.xml file: https://www.zkteco.com/en/Index/Service/license_active.html.
Or send the XX_UPK.xml file back to the sales team. Then the team will send you the file XX_License.xml back.
Step 6: Click the Browse button to select the file XX_License.xml, click Active, then you will successfully activate your software.
